WEEKTWO

PARTICIPANTGUIDE

This week at True North we continued our At the Core series with the message “A Bible Church.” We were reminded that the Bible isn’t just a book to respect—it’s the living Word of God that sets the agenda for our lives, points us to Jesus, and equips us for everyday faith. At True North, we don’t just preach for Sundays—we preach for Mondays through Fridays, so the Word shapes our head, heart, and hands. Join us this Sunday as we keep building our lives on the foundation of God’s Word.

BIGIDEA

Being a Bible Church means the Word directs our lives, points us to Jesus, and equips us for everyday faith.

SERMONSUMMARY

This week’s message reminded us that being a Bible Church is more than a label—it’s our foundation. God’s Word is not decoration; it’s direction. Scripture equips us for every good work, and our calling is to live it out.

The sermon gave us three main points:
1.  The Bible Sets the Agenda — We Just Make It Clear.
God’s Word directs the church, not culture or opinion. Our role is to proclaim it with clarity and courage.

2.  The Bible Is About Jesus — So Is Our Preaching.
Every page of the Bible points to Christ. If we miss Him, we miss the point.

3. We Preach for Monday to Friday.
The Word is for everyday life—shaping our head (beliefs), heart (passions), and hands (actions).

True North exists to help people not just hear the Bible but live it. When we let God’s Word guide us, reveal Jesus, and shape our daily lives, we become fully equipped disciples who live with confidence and purpose.

DEVOTIONALGUIDE

Memory Verse of the Week

2 Timothy 3:16–17

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”
Day 1: The Word Is Our Direction
Memory Verse of the Week:
 2 Timothy 3:16–17
“All Scripture is breathed out by God…”

Scripture: Psalm 119:105

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

Devotional Thought:

The Bible isn’t meant to sit on a shelf or decorate a coffee table—it’s the compass of life. At True North, we believe God’s Word isn’t optional advice but essential direction. Just as a lamp guides steps in the dark, Scripture shines in the ordinary and challenging places of life. Too often, we treat the Bible with respect but not reliance. But when the Word gets inside us, it becomes the light that keeps us from stumbling and the compass that keeps us on course.

The Bible is not irrelevant—it is eternally relevant. Our job is not to make it applicable, but to open our hearts so it can apply itself to our lives. God has already given us the map—our role is to follow it.

Reflection Questions:
+Where in your life do you need the Bible’s direction most right now?
+Have you been treating Scripture as decoration or as direction?
+How has God’s Word lit your path in past seasons?

Suggested Reading: Joshua 1:7–9

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for giving me Your Word as a light. Help me not only read it but live it. Let it guide my steps this week.

Day 2: Preach the Word
Memory Verse of the Week:
2 Timothy 3:16–17
“All Scripture is breathed out by God…”

Scripture: 2 Timothy 4:2

“Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.”

Devotional Thought:

The Bible doesn’t need us to add to it—it needs us to proclaim it with clarity and courage. Paul’s charge to Timothy is the same charge for the Church today: “Preach the Word.” That means the agenda is not ours; it belongs to God. When His Word is declared, it convicts, heals, saves, and sends.

Preaching isn’t about performance—it’s about proclamation. The authority lies not in clever communication but in Spirit-filled declaration of God’s truth. Whether from a pulpit, in a classroom, or across a coffee table, we are all called to point people to the Word that transforms lives.

Reflection Questions:
+Why is it important that the Bible, not culture, sets the agenda?
+How can you share God’s Word clearly with someone this week?
+When has Scripture personally corrected, encouraged, or equipped you?

Suggested Reading: Isaiah 55:10–11

Prayer:
Father, give me courage to share Your Word with others. Help me trust that Your Word is powerful enough to change lives.

Day 3: The Word Points to Jesus
Memory Verse of the Week:
 2 Timothy 3:16–17
“All Scripture is breathed out by God…”

Scripture: John 5:39

“You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me.”

Devotional Thought:

Every page of the Bible points to a Person—Jesus Christ. From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture is not a collection of disconnected stories but a unified testimony of redemption. Jesus Himself told the disciples that “all the Scriptures” were about Him.

If people walk away from our preaching knowing more about the Bible but not knowing Jesus better, we’ve missed the point. The purpose of the Bible is not just information but transformation—leading us into a relationship with Christ. At True North, we don’t just preach from the Bible; we preach toward Jesus.

Reflection Questions:
+How does seeing the Bible as one story of redemption change the way you read it?
+When has Scripture helped you see Jesus more clearly?
+Who in your life needs to be introduced (or reintroduced) to Jesus through God’s Word?

Suggested Reading: Luke 24:27

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You that the Scriptures reveal You. Help me not only to know the Bible but to know You more deeply through it.

Day 4: The Word for Monday to Friday
Memory Verse of the Week:
2 Timothy 3:16–17
“All Scripture is breathed out by God…”

Scripture: James 1:22

“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”

Devotional Thought:

The Bible isn’t written just for Sundays—it’s written for Mondays through Fridays. God’s Word is meant to be lived out in our workplaces, homes, schools, and neighborhoods. When Scripture shapes your head, ignites your heart, and moves your hands, you live as a doer of the Word.

Sunday isn’t the finish line—it’s the launchpad. What you receive on Sunday fuels how you walk with God the rest of the week. If the Word doesn’t shape your decisions, attitudes, and relationships outside these walls, it hasn’t accomplished its full purpose.

Reflection Questions:
+Where do you most need to “do the Word” in your daily life?
+How does Sunday’s message carry into your week?
+What is one area of your head, heart, or hands God wants to align with His Word?

Suggested Reading: Romans 12:2

Prayer:
Lord, let Your Word transform not only what I believe but how I live. Help me to walk it out in every part of my week.

Day 5: The Word at the Core
Memory Verse of the Week:
 2 Timothy 3:16–17
“All Scripture is breathed out by God…”

Scripture: Hebrews 4:12

“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

Devotional Thought:

The Bible is not dead ink on a page—it is the living Word of God. It is sharper than a sword, cutting through excuses and defenses to transform our hearts. The Word exposes what is hidden, heals what is broken, and equips us for every good work.

At the core of who we are as a church is this conviction: God’s Word is alive, active, and enough. We are not a Bible Church because of a label, but because we believe Scripture is the foundation for identity, direction, and transformation.

When you let God’s Word get into your heart, it doesn’t just change your week—it changes your life.

Reflection Questions:
+How has God’s Word been “alive and active” in your life recently?
+What area of your heart do you need to invite Scripture to examine?
+Why is it vital that a church be centered on the Word?

Suggested Reading: Psalm 19:7–11

Prayer:
Father, thank You that Your Word is alive and powerful. Let it shape my heart, renew my mind, and equip me to live for You every day.
